For this phase of the project cycle, I ensured that I had discovered and dealt with any bugs or issues myself first-hand, before shipping my Beta build off to play testers. I created a bug-tracking board on Trello, which was instrumental in helping me keep up with bugs, and log their state. I chose Trello because it features the ability to set bugs status as “To do, doing, or done”, as well as the features that help to document and log the process of fixing them. These features included attaching screenshots/GIFs of the bugs - both before being fixed and after to demonstrate the change - and also a description to describe what fix was done, and what the solution was, either by following a video tutorial etc.
I also had a specific defect-reporting/identification process thanks to an internal testing report I wrote, complete with test cases and acceptance tests.
Next, I created a Google Forms Heuristics survey with twenty-one questions in it, with both qualitative and quantitative questions.
With my project being an Open-World Level Design Showcase, the majority of the questions focus on the players’ feeling of freedom of choice within the level, ease of navigation, motivation to explore different parts of the map, and how particle effects and sound effects affect their sense of immersion.
